Overview

Arborvitae Care Services (ACS) are looking for individuals who can function as positive role models for our young people, individuals who will embody our values and have the desire to make a difference to the lives of young people. We offer safe, secure, and protected placements for children and young people aged 8-16 from complex backgrounds, who display challenging behaviour, who are having difficulty finding a suitable placement.

Qualities

We are more than willing to provide full support and training to the right person for our team if you are new to this sector. However, there are a few qualities that we will be looking for:

  • A flexible and ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to try new approaches to achieve positive results
  • An ability to work independently while also be an effective team player
  • A positive attitude to be handle challenging situations

If you don’t already have the relevant qualification in residential childcare, we are willing to invest in enhancing your skills and supporting you every step of the way

As a Residential Support Worker

You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people, and help towards the bright future they deserve, attending to their practical, physical and emotional needs. You will provide a high standard of care and support, in a professional manner, to vulnerable young people, with emotional behavioural difficulties.

You will develop a good working relationship with both children and young people and other stakeholders through building positive relationships. 

You will be part of a team who work together to create a safe, stable environment to ensure each young person is achieving a better quality of life, positive outcomes and learning experiences. 

Requirements and Skills

  • To work with all professionals, families, and the young people to ensure that their needs are being met.
  • To be part of the team, in ensuring the home is a safe and caring environment, whilst consistently promoting the child’s/young person’s welfare and safety in and out the home. 
  • Be able to produce accurate reports on the day-to-day activities of the young people ensuring good attention to detail when report writing.  
  • Support Worker’s need to be able to demonstrate active listening skills and work with a solution focused approach when potential problems are presented. 
  • To be able to support the homes Team Leaders in the effective management of the home and staff team.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  

Essential criteria

  • Full UK Driving Licence held for at least 2 years. 

Desirable criteria

  • Two years’ experience supporting young people in a children’s residential setting. 
  • Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent. 

Work Location

The location/work-base for this role may require you work to from multiple locations. We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.
