About Us

Arborvitae Care Services is a leading provider of social care services for young people between the ages of 8-17.

The Role

This is a varied, practical role suited to someone who is hard-working, dependable, and takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance work. The successful candidate will enjoy problem-solving, being hands-on, and contributing to safe, well-maintained environments for children and young people.

You will carry out a wide range of handyman and general maintenance tasks, from painting and repairs to fixing day-to-day issues as they arise. While the role is primarily Monday to Friday, there may be occasions where emergency call-outs are required (paid at an additional on-call rate). A works van/car will be provided, and you will travel between sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and handyman duties across residential homes
  • Painting, decorating, and minor repairs
  • Fixing fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, flooring, and basic plumbing issues
  • Undertake preventative maintenance to ensure homes remain safe and compliant
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergency call-outs when required
  • Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance and care teams
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health & safety requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and the company vehicle responsibly

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence (E)
  • Practical, hands-on experience in maintenance, handyman, or similar roles (E)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, “can-do” attitude (E)
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment (E)
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload (E)
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and professional (E)
  • A recognised trade qualification (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry) (D)
  • Experience working in residential, care, or similar settings (D)
